Rise and Go
Day 25—Read Luke 17
Luke 17 has some key verses on forgiveness, faith, thankfulness and the kingdom. I want to focus on the story of the ten leprous men that Jesus healed. The men asked for Jesus’s mercy. He told them “go and show yourselves to the priests.” So, they went on their way, and “as they were going, they were cleansed”. Only one came back praising and glorifying God, and he was a Samaritan.
I found it interesting that even before they were healed they did what Jesus told them to do, but for the life of me I can’t understand how they could not be so overjoyed after being healed from this horrible disease that they wouldn’t at least go back and thank Him.
Then I realize I probably do the same thing on a regular basis. I should be praising God for so many things every single day, but take His grace and forgiveness for granted. The lepers were healed from a disease, but I was saved from death into life in Christ, for eternity. I am a new creature in Jesus Christ. Jesus said to the leper (and to us today) “Rise, and go your way; your faith has made you well.”
