Gethsemane

Jennifer Hunter

Day 35—Read Mark 14

Was Gethsemane a manicured garden or a rugged orchard? Did they walk three minutes or ten? Were His words clear or did His throat choke?

“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death: remain here and watch with me.”

Was there grass, or did He lay His face in the dirt when He sprawled on the ground.

“My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me…”

How many times do we walk to Gethsemane? What is it for you? The choice to stay in a painful marriage? The determination to leave a comfortable country and fly into a land with no running hot water?
Daring to stay alive when everything else says to force death upon yourself?

Jesus faced the world’s worst nightmare.

His words echoed into eternity: “nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”

Did tears swirl in His eyes too?
